The
Magic House Has the Blues
Did you know that "St. Louis Blues" is
the name of an NHL hockey team, a famous American song written in 1914
and a new exhibit opening Feb. 20 at the Magic House? Fans of sports
and music will soon be singing the blues when they check out the Magic
House's latest exhibit, The Blue Note Zone. The exhibit is made possible
by a grant from the Blues 14 Fund, the team's charitable trust, and
is sure to score big with kids as they step inside a hockey reading
rink created with real hockey boards and get in the zone with books
on sports. Click
here for photos from the grand opening of the Blues Zone.
Children can
set aside a reading goal inside a real full-sized regulation hockey
net, participate in fun hockey-related interactive computer games, learn
fun facts about the game of hockey and solve a giant BlueNote puzzle.
Visitors can then skate on over to the museum's Bubble Organ (a unique
instrument that produces music and bubbles) to play the blues and learn
more about this unique style of music made popular in St. Louis.
The Magic House is located at 516 S. Kirkwood Road, St. Louis, MO 63122.

Fan
Zone at Ranken Jordan
The Blues 14 Fund is proud to partner with Ranken
Jordan - A Pediatric Specialty Hospital to create the Fan Zone, a hockey-themed
area inside the hospital's Pediatric Services Gym. It was designed to
give children an escape from the battles they face each day, allowing
them to decorate their own Blues pennant and play with hockey toys that
promote emotional and cognitive development. The Fan Zone was made possible
by a $200,000 donation from the Blues 14 Fund. Click
here to read more and see photos of the Fan Zone.
