ST. LOUIS (AP) - Henrik Zetterberg got the bounce he needed.

Zetterberg scored with 9 seconds to play to give the Detroit Red Wings a 3-2 victory over the St. Louis Blues on Saturday night.

Zetterberg one-timed a pass from Brendan Shanahan past Jason Bacashihua to give the Red Wings their seventh straight win and their 12th consecutive road victory.

"The puck was a little bit bouncing," Zetterberg said about his 39th goal. "So I just tried to get a swing on it and I got a pretty good hit on the puck."

The play happened so fast that Bacashihua never had a chance to react.

"I was looking behind the net," Bacashihua said. "A little farther to my left, it probably would have hit me right in the shoulder and we would have been in a shootout."

With the Red Wings winning night in and night out, Zetterberg feels the team is in a good place heading into the playoffs.

"It's nice to win to keep good chemistry," Zetterberg said. "We just want to keep everybody fresh and keep the momentum for the playoffs."

Detroit took a 1-0 lead 7:39 into the game. With Jeff Hoggan coming out of the penalty box for high-sticking, Tomas Holmstrom fed a wide-open Nicklas Lidstrom from behind the net. Lidstrom one-timed it past Bacashihua for his 16th goal.

Detroit made it 2-0 3:11 later. Shanahan was just out of the penalty box when he picked up the loose puck in front of the Red Wings' bench, skated in alone on Bacashihua and beat him low on his stick side for his 40th goal of the season. It's the sixth time Shanahan has scored 40 or more goals.

"I just try to stay ahead of my age," the 37-year-old Shanahan said. "It means a lot. I think these are all things you reflect on at the end of the season and at the end of your career."

St. Louis' Lee Stempniak scored on the power-play with 4:47 remaining in the first to make it 2-1. Stempniak's 14th goal was the result of Dennis Wideman's slap shot deflecting in off Stempniak's shoulder. The Blues had been 0-for-33 on the power play at home over the last six games.

Jamal Mayers tied it with his 15th goal at 6:36 of the second period when Stempniak sent a cross-ice pass to Mayers who banged a slap shot past Chris Osgood. The goal came just after a 4-minute, high-sticking penalty to Niklas Kronvall had expired.

Osgood (20-5-5) made 37 saves for the victory. It's Osgood's 10th season with at least 20 wins while Bacashihua (4-9-0), who grew up in Garden City, near Detroit, stopped 35 shots. It was the Blues' third loss in their last four games and the 16th in their last 17.

"You definitely wanted to pull out a win playing these guys," Bacashihua said. "I guess I'll have to wait until next year."

The Red Wings scratched five starters including captain Steve Yzerman, Pavel Datsyuk, and Chris Chelios. None were listed with serious injuries.

Notes: St. Louis announced that goalie coach Keith Allain has been hired as the head coach at Yale University, replacing Tim Taylor. ... The Blues' 21 shots on goal in the second period was the most shots on goal St. Louis has recorded in one period this season. ... Detroit's 12-game road winning streak is the longest road winning streak in NHL history. ... The Red Wings are the only team in the NHL not to be shutout this season. ... Shanahan is two goals shy of 600 for his career.
