ST. LOUIS (AP) _ Calgary coach Darryl Sutter turned to Roman Turek in goal Sunday night and got just what he hoped for.

Turek stopped 25 shots for his second shutout and Craig Conroy scored a goal, helping the Flames blank the St. Louis Blues 3-0 Sunday night.

``He was really good,'' Sutter said about Turek. ``He gave us playoff goaltending. You need to be consistent and Roman was tonight.''

Turek, a former Blues goaltender, has 26 shutouts in his career. It was just Turek's fifth win this season against 10 losses.

``This was a big game for me, so I was ready from the first minute,'' Turek said. ``This was like a playoff game for us. A shutout is always a special game for a goalie.

``If our team scores a goal, we win. We did tonight and I was able to shut the door.''

The loss dropped the Blues back into ninth place in the Western Conference standings. St. Louis has 78 points with 10 games remaining. The Blues have reached the postseason for 24 consecutive years, the longest professional sports streak.

``It's do or die right now,'' St. Louis defenseman Bryce Salvador said. ``We're running out of games. It's a battle and it's going to be a battle until the end.''

Calgary remained sixth in the conference with 82 points. Nashville picked up a point in a 3-2 overtime loss Sunday at Detroit and is in seventh with 79. The Los Angeles Kings, 5-1 winners over Anaheim on Sunday, jumped over the Blues into the final playoff spot with 79 points.

``This was a big game for us,'' Turek said. ``We know how tight the Western Conference standings are. They are very close to us and to a playoff spot.''

The Flames are unbeaten in their last five games at 3-0-2.

The loss snapped a four-game winning streak by St. Louis, which entered the game unbeaten in its last five.

This was the fourth and final meeting between the clubs and they finished 2-2. Both of Calgary's wins came in St. Louis.

The Flames took a 1-0 lead just 2:46 into the game. Marcus Nilson scored under the pad of goalie Chris Osgood, who is one win shy of 300 for his career. Nilson ripped a slap shot from the right faceoff circle.

The Blues didn't get their first shot on goal until 10:30 of the first period and were outshot 8-6 in the period.

``It's frustrating,'' St. Louis coach Mike Kitchen said. ``Once again, it's another slow start. It's not the start we wanted. We gave up a goal early. It got us on our heels early.''

Late in the second period, Conroy deflected in the puck for a 2-0 lead. Jordan Leopold, who also assisted on the first goal, took a shot from the point. Conroy, standing in a group in front of the net, touched the puck, giving him eight points in his last four games.

``I got lucky tonight,'' Conroy said. ``I didn't even see it. It hit me in the foot and went in. I tried to get my stick there, but it hit my foot. It still counts.''

Conroy had three assists in Saturday's 4-4 tie at Nashville and he has eight points in his last four games.

Calgary added an empty-net goal by Chris Simon with 1:16 to go.
