Predators-Blues Preview
Nashville Predators vs. St. Louis Blues

GAME: Nashville Predators (43-25-8) at St. Louis Blues (20-40-14).

TIME: Thursday, 8 p.m. EDT.

This season has been one to forget for the St. Louis Blues.

The Blues look to avoid setting a franchise record for consecutive losses for the second time this season when they host the slumping Nashville Predators.

Entering this season, the Blues' team record for consecutive defeats was seven games, set in 1967-68 and matched in 1988-89. However, St. Louis lost 11 in a row from Oct. 20-Nov. 12 and equaled that mark with Tuesday's 5-4 shootout loss to the Minnesota Wild.

Mike Glumac had a goal and an assist for the Blues, who also lost nine in a row from Jan. 4-20. St. Louis scored more than two goals for the first time during its current losing streak.

"The offense was there, and four goals is enough to win," coach Mike Kitchen said. "We made a couple of errors that we shouldn't have made.

"We are not an overconfident club right now, and we get a little uptight, but the effort is still there. We just cannot have the turnovers that we did."

Dean McAmmond added two assists for the Blues, who haven't won since a 3-2 victory over Columbus on March 13 and have dropped five in a row at home. Forward Jeff Hoggan, who hasn't played since breaking his collarbone on Jan. 26 but has been practicing, could return against Nashville.

The Blues could have their work cut out if they hope to end their losing streak against the Predators. Nashville has won all six games against St. Louis this season, outscoring its Central Division rival 20-10. The Blues had never lost a season series with the Predators before this season.

The Predators, however, lost 4-3 to the Chicago Blackhawks on Wednesday for their sixth defeat in seven games. Nashville's lone victory over that stretch was a 2-1 win over St. Louis on Saturday.

Greg Johnson had a goal and an assist Wednesday for the Predators, who have not scored more than two goals in any of their last four games.

Top goalie Tomas Vokoun was out with a sore back and is day-to-day. Backup goalie Chris Mason was pulled late in the first period after allowing three goals on 10 shots, but returned to start the second after Pekka Rinne gave up a goal on two shots in the final 3:08 of the first.

Steve Sullivan (sore groin), Jordin Tootoo (sore back) and Marek Zidlicky (sore shoulder) also sat out and are listed as day-to-day. Defenseman Brendan Witt served a one-game suspension for kneeing Columbus' David Vyborny on Monday.
