Blues Donate $75,000 and TV broadcast to United Way of Greater St. Louis

The Blues made a Power Play for United Way on October 24 with special in-game activities, and a special TV broadcast on Fox Sports Midwest. The night also included a United Way information booth and a special message to fans during the 1st intermission from Doug Albrecht, co-chairman of the 2008 United Way campaign and chairman, president and CEO of Centric Group. The Blues contributed a total of $75,000 to the United Way of Greater St. Louis, made possible by donations from Blues players, executives, and staff, and proceeds from a special in-game silent auction and a portion of ticket sales.

The special telecast featured traditional game coverage, with breaks dedicated to the United Way. Fans at home heard from community leaders in support of the United Way, and from community members who have been helped by United Way. The Blues donated the evening's broadcast to the United Way of Greater St. Louis in an effort to help the organization reach its annual $65.5 million fundraising goal.

Through its funding of these nearly 200 health and human service agencies, United Way helps more than one million people a year throughout a 16-county area in Missouri and Illinois. For more information or to give a gift to United Way, please visit www.stl.unitedway.org
