Lois Knapp (right) was diagnosed with breast cancer at 29. Now a 38-year survivor, she poses for a picture with Barret Jackman before the 2009 Komen St. Louis Race for the Cure. The Blues have been involved heavily with the Komen Race for the past three years.

The Blues and Fox Sports Midwest teamed up once again for the Komen St. Louis Race for the Cure®, held June 13 in downtown St. Louis. This year Saint Louis University Hospital also supported the team by involving employees and survivors from their cancer center. More than 1,200 fans joined the Blues and Fox Sports Midwest and raised more than $45,000 for breast cancer research!

Overall, more than 66,000 people attended the event, which raised $3.25 million for breast cancer screening, treatment, education and research for the St. Louis Community.

Team members enjoyed pre-race activities outside of Scottrade Center, including a light breakfast, face painting, music and mingling with Louie, Blues broadcaster John Kelly, Alumni Bobby Plager, Blues players Barret Jackman, Ben Bishop, Tyson Strachan, Brad Winchester, Carlo Colaicovo and Yan Stastny.

Prospects Lars Eller and Aaron Palushaj also joined the festivities.

Congratulations to our top team fundraisers!
