ST. LOUIS (AP) -The slumping St. Louis Blues got the best of the soaring Phoenix Coyotes.

Patrik Berglund scored his eighth goal of the season and added an assist on B.J. Crombeen's winner for the Blues, who snapped a two-game losing streak with a 4-3 victory over the Phoenix Coyotes on Saturday night.

St. Louis had lost four of five, while Phoenix came out on top in four of its previous five. None of that mattered Saturday.

"It's fun to be around the net and score some goals," Berglund said. "The important thing is we got two points, and hopefully we can forward."

Berglund has 13 points in 12 games, and Brad Boyes added three assists for St. Louis. The Coyotes, who had won two straight, lost for the second time in six games.

David Backes and Keith Tkachuk also had goals for the Blues, who trailed 1-0 early in the first period. The win was the first for Blues goalie Manny Legace since March 4, 2006, with the Detroit Red Wings.

"I thought it was just a phenomenal team effort," Legace said. "Guys just played phenomenal in front of me all night."

Ed Jovanovski, Shane Doan and Kyle Turris scored for Phoenix.

"We're battling for our lives," said coach Wayne Gretzky said of the Coyotes (12-12-2). "This was a tough game for us. We just came up short."

Blues coach Andy Murray had similar feelings about his team's plight.

"We don't do things easy," Murray said. "It's going to be a battle every night and it was again."

Phoenix jumped out to the lead 9:03 into the first. Jovanovski one-timed Doan's pass from behind the net past Legace. It was the defenseman's second goal of the season and first since Nov. 4 against Calgary.

The Blues tied it with just under four minutes left in the first. Backes beat Ilya Bryzgalov for his sixth of the season.

The Coyotes regained the lead at 4:15 of the period on Doan's 13th goal.

The Blues quickly tied it at 2 just 59 seconds later. With Enver Lisin in the box for hooking, Berglund one-timed Boyes' pass. It was Boyes' 100th point with the Blues.

St. Louis took its first lead at 11:37 when Tkachuk banged in a rebound for his 12th goal.

The Blues took a 4-2 lead when Crombeen one-timed Berglund's pass for his second of the season.

Coyotes forward Shane Doan said that was the difference.

"For about 10 minutes at the end of the second they outplayed us badly," Doan said. "We can't as a young team afford to have that happen."

Turris got the Coyotes within 4-3 with just under four minutes remaining in the second when he slid a shot under Legace for a power-play goal.

Notes: Coyotes C Olli Jokinen, missed his fifth straight game due to a shoulder injury. He isn't expected to return until Wednesday against Dallas. ... Doan has a four-game point streak. ... Blues forward Paul Kariya missed his 14th straight game with a lower body injury. He hasn't played since Nov. 5. ... The Blues honored Tkachuk before the game for recording his 1,000th career point last Sunday at Atlanta. He the 72nd NHL player to reach the mark.
