Cam Janssen put a $25 price tag on each of his checks in the 2010-11 season to benefit The Fisher House.
The Fisher House’s “Hit Tracker” documented Janssen’s body checks until the end of the season at which point he wrote a check for the accumulated total. In addition, the Window World of St. Louis matched all funds donated by Cam from his Hit Tracker.
Prior to the 2010-11 season, the Eureka, MO native has delivered 325 hits in 206 NHL games.
The Fisher House supports America’s military by recognizing the sacrifices of men and women in uniform and the hardships of their military service by exceeding their humanitarian needs.
For example, Fisher House Foundation donates “comfort homes” which are built on the grounds of major military and VA medical centers to ensure family members that they can be close to their loved ones during unexpected hospitalization.
Annually, Fisher House serves more than 11,000 families and since their origination in 1990, they have made available nearly three million days of lodging to family members of military personnel.
