Prospects Tournament: Red Wings 2, Blues 1, FINAL

Playing in front of the hometown crowd, the Detroit Red Wings prospects wasted no time lighting the lamp on Tuesday evening in a 2-1 defeat of the Blues.

Just 53 seconds into the game, Brent Raedeke beat Blues goaltender Jake Allen to give the Red Wings an early lead.

The Blues would respond with a goal from defenseman Alex Pietrangelo while on a 5-on-3 power play. The goal was assisted by Tyler Shattock and Philip McRae and came at 17:17 of the first.

But Detroit’s Tomas Tatar scored the game-winner late in the third period, giving the Red Wings a ticket to the prospect tournament’s championship game against Minnesota on Wednesday.

The Blues outshot the Red Wings 14-9 in the first period, but Detroit had the advantage in shots at the final buzzer, 30-29.

Allen stopped 28 of 30 shots and fell to 1-1 in the tournament.

The Blues fell to 1-2 and will play Wednesday against Columbus in their final game before reporting to St. Louis for training camp or to their respective teams. Visit stlouisblues.com for a recap and boxscore from Wednesday’s game.
