On April 3, 1995, Taylor’s No. 18 jersey was retired by Los Angeles.

Taylor also represented Canada in three World Championships as a player including 1983 in Germany, 1985 in Prague and 1986 in Moscow. He helped Canada earn bronze medals in 1983 and 1986 while leading them to silver as team captain in 1985.
