Dave Taylor
Vice President of Hockey Operations

Dave Taylor was named the Blues’ Vice President of Hockey Operations on June 26, 2012 after serving as the club’s Director of Player Personnel since July, 2010.

Taylor comes from the Dallas Stars, where he served three seasons as their Director of Player Personnel. He came to Dallas in 2007 after spending 30 years with the Los Angeles Kings organization as a player and member of the front office.

Taylor served as Director of Amateur Development for the Kings in 2006-07 after completing nine seasons from 1997-2006 as the club’s General Manager. Compiling a record of 290-261-105. In his final year as General Manager in 2005-06, the Kings equaled a franchise record in home wins (26). His teams earned 90-plus points for three-straight seasons from 1999-2002 for the first time in franchise history. Average attendance improved from 12,297 to 17,821 during his tenure and he was named the Hockey News Executive of the Year in 2001. Under Taylor’s leadership, the Kings succeeded at the draft table selecting Anze Kopitar, Olli Jokinen, Alexander Frolov, Michael Cammalleri, Dustin Brown, Jonathan Quick and Lubomir Visnovsky.

On the ice, Taylor was a member of the renowned “Triple Crown Line” with Marcel Dionne and Charlie Simmer. The Kings’ all-time games played leader appeared in 1,111 contests, tallying 431 goals and 638 assists for 1,069 points. A
five-time NHL All-Star, he also served as the Kings’ captain for four seasons from 1985-89, and after posting career-highs in goals (47) and points (112) during the 1980-81 season, he earned a spot on the NHL All-Star second team. On April 3, 1995, Taylor’s No. 18 jersey was retired by Los Angeles.

Taylor also represented Canada in three World Championships as a player including 1983 in Germany, 1985 in Prague and 1986 in Moscow. He helped Canada earn bronze medals in 1983 and 1986 while leading them to silver as team captain in 1985.

Taylor graduated from Clarkson College in 1977 and during his senior year, he led the NCAA with a record 108 points (41g, 67a) in 34 games. In the same season, Taylor was named a First Team All America selection and the ECAC Player of the Year. He remains the all time leading scorer at Clarkson University with 251 points (98g, 153a) in 116 games.

Dave and his wife Beth reside near Los Angeles with their two daughters, Jamie and Katie.
