Since entering the NHL as an expansion team in 1967, the St. Louis Blues have employed some of the greatest players in history, including old-time hockey heroes like Dickie Moore, Doug Harvey, Glenn Hall and Jacques Plante. Later, names like Bernie Federko, Brett Hull, Wayne Gretzky, Al MacInnis and Peter Stastny would call St. Louis home, and who could forget fan favorites like Bob Plager (pictured), Tony Twist and Curtis Joseph? The team enjoyed success on the ice, too, reaching the Stanley Cup Finals in each of its first three seasons. Later, the Blues would earn a playoff berth for 25 consecutive years (1979 through 2004). Recently, after a five-year absence, the Blues returned to the playoffs in 2009 and again in 2012.
It's safe to say the Blues may be entering the most exciting time in franchise history with young players like T.J. Oshie, Patrik Berglund, David Perron and Alex Pietrangelo, to name a few. Each was drafted by the Blues and has been taught what it means to wear a Blues jersey. They wear it with pride, hoping to one day lead the Blues to the NHL's ultimate prize: a Stanley Cup championship.
