Al MacInnis
Senior Advisor to the General Manager

Al MacInnis was named Senior Advisor to the General Manager for the Blues on July 26, 2012 after serving as the club’s Vice President of Hockey Operations since November, 2006.

He crafted a remarkable 23-year career in the National Hockey League between the St. Louis Blues and Calgary Flames that has rightfully earned him a spot among the greatest defensemen in the history of the game. On June 28, 2007, MacInnis was selected to the Hockey Hall of Fame and was officially inducted on November 12, 2007.

A native of Port Hood, Nova Scotia, he spent 10 seasons donning The Note, amassing 452 points (127 goals, 325 assists) in 613 games played. He finished his career with St. Louis ranking fourth on the Blues’ all-time assists list (325), sixth on the points list (452), seventh on the games-played list (613) and third on the shots-on-goal list (2,266). St. Louis made the playoffs each season he played with the team, reaching the Western Conference Finals in 2000-01. He led the Blues to the first ever Presidents’ Trophy in franchise history in 1999-2000, posting the NHL’s best regular-season record. MacInnis’ number 2 sweater was retired by the Blues on April 9, 2006.

MacInnis won the 1999 James Norris Memorial Trophy as the NHL’s best defenseman and the 1989 Conn Smythe Trophy while leading the Calgary Flames to the Stanley Cup Championship. A two-time Olympian for Team Canada, he captured the gold medal at the 2002 Olympic Winter Games in Salt Lake City. MacInnis was a 13-time NHL All-Star, and was named to the NHL First All-Star Team four times. He was also a seven-time winner of the hardest-shot competition at the NHL All-Star Game. MacInnis currently ranks third all-time among NHL defensemen in points (1,274), assists (934) and goals (340) and ranks 10th in games played (1,416). He also ranks 34th on the all-time NHL list in points, 15th in assists and 27th in games played.
