Steen Injured Saturday against Arizona
Blues forward has an upper-body injury and will be re-evaluated in four weeks
GLENDALE - Blues forward Alexander Steen has been placed on injured reserve with an upper-body injury.
He will be re-evaluated in four weeks.
Steen's injury occurred with 12:52 remaining in the first period Saturday night in Arizona. Steen was hit by Coyotes defenseman Kevin Connauton in his own zone and landed awkwardly as he fell to the ice and into the boards. Steen got up immediately under his own power but left for the locker room.
Before the injury, Steen had registered a goal and an assist in the game.
"When our best all-around player goes down, there's a lot to shoulder," Blues captain David Backes said after Saturday's 6-4 win against the Coyotes. "Different guys stepped up and played bigger minutes with bigger responsibility and did a heck of a job."
This season, Steen ranks second on the club with 47 points (17 goals, 30 assists).
