3 Blues Set for Hall of Fame Induction
Bob Plager, Brian Sutter and Dan Kelly will be inducted into the St. Louis Sports Hall of Fame on Sept. 24.

ST. LOUIS – Blues legends Bob Plager, Brian Sutter and Dan Kelly will be inducted into the St. Louis Sports Hall of Fame on Sept. 24 at the Renaissance Grand Hotel. Tickets for the induction ceremony start at $150 per person or $1,250 for a table of 10. In addition, Blues fans purchasing tickets for the event will sit together in special limited seating.

Plager has been with the Blues since the organization’s inception in 1967-68. As a player, he was best known for his famous hip checks that he delivered frequently during his 14-year NHL career, which included his final 11 seasons in St. Louis (1967-78). After retiring as a player, he went on to serve in several other capacities with the club, including Head Coach, Director of Professional Scouting, Vice President and Director of Player Development and Special Assistant to the General Manager. Plager, whose brothers Barclay and Billy also wore the Blue Note, finished his Blues career with 615 games played and 762 penalty minutes, which rank sixth and 10th respectively in franchise history. Currently, he works in the Blues’ Community Relations Department.

Brian Sutter spent his entire career 12-year NHL career with the Blues after the club drafted him 20th overall in 1976. Sutter played 779 games as a Blue, the second-most in club history, while he is the all-time franchise leader in penalty minutes (1,786). He also ranks third all-time in goals (303), assists (333) and points (636). After retiring as a player, Sutter served as Blues Head Coach from 1989-92, raking up 153 regular season wins overall, the second-most in franchise history. In addition, he became the second coach in club history to earn the Jack Adams Award in 1991. The longest tenured captain in team history (1979-88), Sutter had his No. 11 retired by the club on Dec. 30, 1988.

Dan Kelly joined St. Louis from Ottawa in 1968 and became the voice of Blues hockey. He called many of the Blues' triumphs, including back-to-back trips to the Stanley Cup Final in 1969 and 1970. Throughout his career, Kelly became recognizable on the national stage as well as in other sports arenas. He garnered hockey play-by-play assignments for Hockey Night in Canada, USA Network, CBC, CTV and Global, which included calling 16 Stanley Cup Finals from 1969-88, as well as the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary. Kelly also called football games for the NFL on CBS along with Missouri Tigers football and St. Louis Cardinals baseball for KMOX. Kelly passed away on Feb. 10, 1989, and shortly after, was awarded the NHL’s Lester Patrick Award for his contributions to hockey in the United States. In 2006, the Blues dedicated the Scottrade Center press box to Kelly’s honor.

Other Blues inducted into the St. Louis Sports Hall of Fame include Glenn Hall, Garry Unger, Al MacInnis, Bernie Federko, Red Berenson and Brett Hull
