Remsburg Drops Ceremonial Puck

ST. LOUIS - Army Ranger Sgt. 1st Class Cory Remsburg, who was a guest of President Barack Obama at the State of the Union address in January, attended Tuesday's game between the Blues and Washington Capitals.

Sgt. Remsburg was escorted to center ice by Blues forward T.J. Oshie before the game and received a standing ovation. He dropped the ceremonial first puck and was escorted off the ice by Blues captain David Backes.

Sgt. Remsburg is a St. Louis native that was injured by a roadside bomb in Afghanistan in 2008 on his 10th deployment. He was in a coma for three months and is partially paralyzed and brain-damaged.

Blues players welcomed Sgt. Remsburg to the locker room after the morning skate on Tuesday. Players stopped by to say hello, shake his hand, pose for photos and give him a team autographed stick.

“His sacrifices for our freedom, for allowing us to do what we do, does not go unnoticed,” Backes said.
