Leopold Sidelined at Least 8 Weeks

ST. LOUIS - Blues defenseman Jordan Leopold will have surgery later this week to repair ligament damage near the first knuckle on his right hand.

Leopold was injured in the Nov. 7 game vs. Calgary. He will be sidelined at least eight weeks and will be re-evaluated at that time.

"He's going to be operated on this week, and we'll re-evaluate him in two months and see how he goes," Blues Head Coach Ken Hitchcock said after Monday's practice. "In eight weeks we'll take a re-evaluation of the hand and go from there.

"He has a ligament issue, need to get it solved right now so that he's back playing during the season. We'll get him looked at here and have that operation done as quickly as possible, and then he'll get back playing in hopefully two months."

Leopold has played in 13 games with the Blues season and has registered two assists. He has a plus-1 rating and four penalty minutes.
