Blues fans submitted questions using #AskHalak on Twitter and Facebook
Blues goalie Jaroslav Halak doesn't have any social media accounts, but that wasn't going to stop us from letting you submit questions for him using Twitter and Facebook.
We received a lot of great questions from fans using the hashtag #AskHalak. We gathered up some of them and presented them to Halak after practice on Wednesday.
Here are your questions and here are his answers.
#AskHalak How do you feel about Shootouts? As a goalie, when your games go to shootouts, do you get nervous or excited?— Johnny Pozzi (@JohnnyMPozzi) November 8, 2013
Jaroslav Halak: I think as a goalie, it's really good. When it goes down to a shootout, you just can't be nervous. You have to take it one shooter at a time. At the end of the night, you'll see what happens. As a goalie, I'm excited when I win. When I lose, I'm not excited.
Jaroslav Halak: It would be something special and unbelievable. It's a long season, but obviously that's the goal every season. Whether we accomplish it or not, it's up to us, the guys here in the locker room.
#AskHalak Here's my question, Did the number 41 have a meaning for you because you always have this number.— Maggy (@MaggyHarnois) November 8, 2013
Jaroslav Halak: Actually no, it's just a number Montreal gave me when I first came over to North America. I just stuck to the number.
What is your favorite movie of all time? #AskHalak— Nathan Copeland (@Thorn_Of_Envy) November 8, 2013
Jaroslav Halak: That's a tough one. There are some when I was growing up, the western movies. There were so many of them. But I don't even know, I don't really have just one.
Jaroslav Halak: It's a Taurus because I was born in May. I put a taurus on, and it's wearing a goalie mask, goalie gloves and has a hockey stick. It's like a mad bull. He's just going through the wall, that's kind of like me.
What goaltenders (current or retired) do you look up to the most? #AskHalak— Launchpad McQuack (@nolankoch) November 8, 2013
Jaroslav Halak: The big names were Patrick Roy, Curtis Joseph, Mike Richter and Martin Brodeur…he's one of the best.
Dear jaro, who is your favorite mascot? Can we make a secret handshake? (2 part question) #askhalak— LouieSTLBlues (@LouieSTLBlues) November 13, 2013
Jaroslav Halak: I've played only on three teams that had a mascot. I would call Louie (my favorite) so he's happy. On the secret handshake, certainly. We just have to come up with something.
Hey Jaro! What's your favorite restaurant in St Louie? #askhalak— Lillia Callum-Penso (@lpenso) November 8, 2013
Jaroslav Halak: I'm not really picky about food. There are some really good spots, maybe Wasabi Sushi or (Cafe) Napoli, the italian place in Clayton. Those places.
Jaroslav Halak: Usually the goalies are the ones that can't skate, but I was the one that chose to be a goalie. Ever since I was three years old, I just wanted to be a goalie. I finally started playing when I was eight.
#AskHalak How do you feel everytime you're playing against the Habs?— Patrick Fadel † (@Patrick_Fadel) November 7, 2013
Jaroslav Halak: I think the first game when I played there two seasons ago, I think that was special because it was the first game. This (most recent) game, it was just a normal game for me.
