Jackman to Participate in Ride to Unite
Event raises money for Delta Gamma Center for Children with Visual Impairments
ST. LOUIS – Blues defensemen Barret Jackman is set to participate as a celebrity cyclist in the Ride to Unite on Saturday, August 31 at 10 a.m. in Francis Park in the St. Louis Hills neighborhood.
Jackman will kick off Day 2 of the festivities by piloting tandem bicycles with a member of the Tandem Adventurers Team, a group of youth cyclists who are blind or visually impaired from the Delta Gamma Center for Children with Visual Impairments.
Jackman and his teammate will ride for four laps (approximately 5 miles) around Francis Park on the closed race course before leading a parade of cyclists through the official Gateway Cup course. Tour de Unite participants can then choose to take a 10, 30 or 50-mile marked ride throughout St. Louis.
The Delta Gamma Center for Children with Visual Impairments and Recreation Council of Greater St. Louis join forces again to host the Ride to Unite. Both organizations work to foster positive perceptions of the potential of individuals with disabilities and, through direct service, provide the freedom and independence created by cycling and other recreational opportunities.
