Paajarvi Signs Two-Year Deal

Magnus Paajarvi, who was acquired in a trade for David Perron, has signed a two-year contract with the Blues.

Paajarvi was a restricted free agent.

“Magnus is a well-rounded player who has good size and great skating ability,” Blues General Manager Doug Armstrong said after acquiring Paajarvi from Edmonton. “He is just coming into his own and this will open up more ice time for Jaden (Schwartz) and Vladimir (Tarasenko).”

Paajarvi scored 16 points for the Oilers last season, recording nine goals and seven assists in 42 games. As a rookie, he tallied 15 goals and 19 assists (34 points). He scored a hat trick in his first NHL preseason game in 2010.

In his 163-game NHL career, Paajarvi has 26 goals and 32 assists.

“Our team is built on balance,” Armstrong said. “We think (Magnus) can come in here and provide an element we don’t have right now.

“We think Magnus is just entering the guts of his career right now. We’re looking forward to him being a Blue.”
