Hitchcock Reaches 600-Win Milestone

Blues Head Coach Ken Hitchcock earned his 600th win behind the bench in Tuesday’s 2-1 shootout win against Vancouver.

Hitchcock is one of 11 coaches in NHL history to reach the milestone.

"It’s basically because I’m old," Hitchcock joked after the game. “If you last long and you’re old, you get this.

Other coaches to reach 600 wins are Scotty Bowman, Al Arbour, Dick Irvin, Pat Quinn, Mike Keenan, Joel Quenneville, Ron Wilson, Bryan Murray, Jacques Lemaire and Jacques Martin. Of that group, six have served behind the Blues bench: Bowman, Arbour, Keenan, Quenneville, Martin and Hitchcock.

"For me, I’m proud of being able to be a coach in this league, but I’m more proud of the way our team is playing right now," Hitchcock said. "We’re playing hard."

Hitchcock is one of two active coaches in the NHL with 600 wins (the other is Quenneville).

Only Bowman (.657) and Quenneville (.612) have better career point percentages than Hitchcock (.595).
