Hakanpaa Joins Peoria Rivermen


ST. LOUIS – St. Louis Blues Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Armstrong announced Friday that defenseman Jani Hakanpaa will join the club’s American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Peoria Rivermen, for the remainder of the season.

Hakanpaa, 20, has appeared in 34 games for Espoo of Finland’s SM-liiga this season, posting 5 points (2 goals, 3 assists) to go along with 34 penalty minutes.

Overall, the 6-foot-5, 218-pound defenseman has spent the past two seasons with Espoo, tallying 17 points (7 goals, 10 assists) and 64 penalty minutes in 75 career games.

The Kirkkonummi, Finland native was drafted by the Blues in the fourth round (104th overall) of the 2010 Entry Draft.
