Jaskin becomes the fifth Blues prospect to be participating in the tournament: Ty Rattie (Canada), Jordan Binnington (Canada), Niklas Lundstrom (Sweden) and Petteri Lindbohm (Finland) were also recently selected to represent their countries.

The 2013 IIHF World Junior Championships begin on Dec. 26 and continue through the Gold Medal Game on Jan. 5. Games will be held in Ufa, Russia and select games will be televised in the United States on NHL Network.

Jaskin, 19, leads the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League’s (QMJHL) Moncton Wildcats and ranks fifth in the league overall with 45 points including 22 goals and 23 assists in 28 games this season. The 6-foot-3, 205-pound forward was recently named the QMJHL’s First Star of November 2012, posting 25 points (9 goals, 16 assists) in 10 games during the past month.

Last season, Jaskin represented the Czech Republic at the 2012 World Juniors, recording two points (1 goal, 1 assist) in six games. The Omsk, Russia native was originally drafted by the Blues in the second round (41st overall) of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.
