Blues prospects Jordan Binnington and Ty Rattie will represent Team Canada at the World Junior Championships in Russia.

ST. LOUIS – St. Louis Blues prospects Jordan Binnington and Ty Rattie are among 23 players that have been selected to play for Canada’s National Junior Team in the 2013 IIHF World Junior Championship.

The tournament will take place from Dec. 26 to Jan. 5 in Ufa, Russia.

Binnington, 19, has posted a league high-tying 16 wins (16-4-1) and three shutouts this season for the Ontario Hockey League’s (OHL) Owen Sound Attack while he leads the OHL overall with a 2.15 goals-against average and a .935 save percentage. The 6-foot-2, 169-pound goaltender was named the OHL’s 2012 Player of the Month for October as well as the league's Player of the Week for the week ending Nov. 18, becoming the only goaltender to earn that honor this season.

The Richmond Hill, Ontario native has accumulated 70 wins in his four-year career with the Attack, ranking first on the franchise’s all-time list. He was originally drafted by the Blues in the third round (88th overall) of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.

Rattie, 19, is in his fifth season with the Western Hockey League’s (WHL) Portland Winterhawks, ranking second on the team and fourth in the WHL overall with 42 points (17 goals, 25 assists). The 6-foot, 176-pound forward is coming off a career year in 2011-12 where he led the Winterhawks and ranked third overall in the WHL with 121 points (57 goals, 64 assists) in 69 regular season games while helping the club reach the finals of the 2012 WHL playoffs, the Ed Chynoweth Cup, with 33 points (19 goals, 14 assists) in 21 playoff games.

Overall, Rattie has recorded 280 points (120 goals, 160 assists) in 233 games across his WHL career. The Calgary, Alberta native was originally drafted in the second round (32nd overall) of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.

In addition, Blues prospects Dmitrij Jaskin (Czech Republic), Niklas Lundstrom (Sweden) and Petteri Lindbohm (Finland) are being considered for their respective national teams.
