Blues to Help Fairview Heights Youth Hockey

ST. LOUIS – The St. Louis Blues have announced plans to put down ice at Scottrade Center to provide a temporary home for the Fairview Heights Youth Hockey Club starting Wednesday, Nov. 14.

"We are happy to assist the Fairview Heights Hockey Club while its home rink is unavailable," said Blues COO Bruce Affleck. "The St. Louis area has a vibrant youth hockey community, and the Blues try to support youth hockey in any way possible."

Fairview Heights has been without its home rink, the U.S. Ice Complex, since Oct. 9 when it was closed after incurring damage due to mine subsidence. The complex may remain closed for several weeks while the Illinois Department of Natural Resources and structural engineers make further assessments of the situation.

The 75,000 square-foot, dual-rink facility is home to activities ranging from youth and men’s hockey leagues to public skating sessions and church group outings.
