ST. LOUIS – St. Louis Blues Mascot, Louie, will be on hand greeting participants and supporting the Gateway Chapter of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in their 14th Annual Light the Night Walk on Friday, September 28 at the Upper Muny Lot in Forest Park.

Registration begins at 5:30 p.m., the 5K run beings at 6:30 p.m. and the two-mile walk begins at 7:30 p.m.

Light The Night is a free event that is open to the public. Any individual walker raising $100 or more is a Champion For Cures (CFC). This entitles that individual to an illuminated balloon, a t-shirt and a Champion For Cures wristband, which will serve as a pass into the CFC tent. The tent will offer refreshments and catered food.

Any individual walker raising at least $25 will receive a balloon ticket and be entitled to walk with an illuminated balloon. White illuminated balloons are for patients and survivors, red illuminated balloons are for supporters and gold illuminated balloons are in memory of loved ones.

The Gateway Chapter of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is expecting to bring together 10,000 walkers from the community to raise funds for local patients and bring light to the dark world of cancer. The chapter hopes to raise its’ highest fundraising goal ever of $816,000 for local patient services and cancer researchers.

Light the Night is the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s nationwide evening fundraising walk to celebrate and commemorate lives touched by blood cancer. The St. Louis area walk helps The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society raise money for research and patient services. Participants walk along a two mile route, carrying illuminated balloons—white for survivors, red for supporters, and gold in memory of a loved one. The St. Louis area walk is held at Forest Park.
