Blues Sign Stewart to One-Year Deal



ST. LOUIS – St. Louis Blues Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Armstrong announced Thursday the club has signed Chris Stewart to a one-year contract.

Stewart, 24, appeared in 79 regular season games for the Blues last season posting 30 points (15 goals, 15 assists) and a career high 109 penalty minutes while also tallying two goals and 12 penalty minutes in seven playoff games.

Since joining the club in February of 2011, the 6’2, 232-pound forward has dressed in 105 games for the Blues totaling 53 points (30 goals, 23 assists) and 124 penalty minutes.

Overall, Stewart has dressed in 271 games during his four-year National Hockey League (NHL) career recording 166 points including 82 goals and 84 assists as well as 289 penalty minutes.

The Toronto, Ontario native was acquired by the Blues along with Kevin Shattenkirk and a conditional 2011 second round draft pick (Ty Rattie) from Colorado in exchange for Erik Johnson, Jay McClement and a conditional 2011 first round draft pick (Duncan Siemans).

Stewart was originally drafted by Colorado in the first round, 18th overall, of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.
