Mayor Declares Friday "St. Louis Blues Day"

Citizens of St. Louis are encouraged to wear Blues gear throughout the community on Friday: at home, at school, at work (if the employer allows) and to other recreational activities around the city.
"I'm proud of the Blues for winning the Central Division Championship and I wish them luck in the second round," said Mayor Slay. "I encourage all St. Louisans to support our winning hockey team and wear blue for the Blues on Friday, April 27th."
Mayor Slay presented the official proclamation to Blues' CEO Mike McCarthy and Blues mascot Louie on Thursday morning.
The Blues recently wrapped up their regular season with a franchise-record 30 home wins and a Central Division Championship. After defeating the San Jose Sharks in Round 1 of the Stanley Cup Playoffs last week, the Blues will meet the Los Angeles Kings in Round 2, which begins Saturday at Scottrade Center.

The City of St. Louis Swat Team shows support for the Blues after Mayor Slay signed an official proclamation declaring Friday, April 27 to be "St. Louis Blues Day" in St. Louis.The St. Louis Blues 2011-2012 season has brought delight to fans worldwide; and
WHEREAS, I congratulate the Blues on their 30 home wins, and the second best record in franchise history; and
WHEREAS, I congratulate the Blues for their Central Division Championship title; and
WHEREAS, I congratulate the Blues for defeating the San Jose Sharks and advancing to the Western Conference Semifinals; and
WHEREAS, on behalf of the City of St. Louis, I join Blues CEO Mike McCarthy and Blues mascot Louie in asking all St. Louisans to support the Blues in wearing blue on Friday, April 27, 2012.
Now, therefore, I, Francis G. Slay, Mayor of the City of St. Louis, do hereby proclaim
April 27, 2012, as:
“SAINT LOUIS BLUES DAY ”
