Elliott to Start Game 3, Halak Ruled Out
Coach Ken Hitchcock ruled Halak out of Monday night's game in San Jose because of the hit he took from teammate Barret Jackman in the second period Saturday night in St. Louis' 3-0 win that tied the series at a game apiece.
Elliott stopped all 17 shots he faced to complete the shutout. In the regular season, he led the league with a 1.56 goals-against average as the Blues regularly used two goaltenders.
"We're lucky because we've been a two-man rotation since Day 1 here," Hitchcock said. "You don't expect something like this to happen but it does. We're lucky we're in the situation we're in. We have two good goalies, a 1 and a 1A literally. Both guys have played in pretty much every building and both guys have played well in every building. For us, we don't miss a beat."
Jake Allen, who was recalled from the Peoria Rivermen on Saturday night, will backup Elliott in Game 3.
