Blues Clinch Central Division Title

It wasn't pretty, but the St. Louis Blues are the 2011-12 Central Division Champions.

Despite a 5-2 loss to Columbus on Saturday night at Scottrade Center, the Blues still officially clinched the top spot in the Central Division and have guaranteed themselves one of the top two positions in the Western Conference thanks to Nashville's 5-4 loss to Chicago.

This marks the Blues' first Central Division title since the 1999-2000 season, when they also claimed the Presidents' Trophy with the League's best record: 51-19-11-1 (114 points).

It's been quite a memorable week for the Blues.

Last Tuesday vs. Nashville, the Blues set a new franchise record for most home wins in one season (30). Blues goalie Brian Elliott also became the first goaltender in team history to record nine shutouts in one season. He also currently has a shutout streak of 186 minutes, 33 seconds. Together with Jaroslav Halak, the Blues have tied a modern era shutout record with 15 this season.

In addition, the team added Andy McDonald, Matt D'Agostini and Roman Polak to the lineup, giving the team its first entirely healthy roster in 160 games as the team prepares to enter the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Tickets for the 2011-12 Stanley Cup Playoffs (Round 1, Home Games 1 and 2) go on sale Wednesday, April 4 at 10 a.m.
