McDonald Set to Return vs. San Jose

Blues forward Andy McDonald has been activated from injured reserve and he'll likely rejoin the lineup for Sunday's 6 p.m. game vs. San Jose.

McDonald hasn't played since he sustained a concussion at the end of the second period on Oct. 13 in Dallas. He has missed 51 games.

"I'm excited. It's been kind of a tough recovery, obviously a long time," McDonald said after Sunday morning's optional skate. "So I'm excited this day is finally here and I'm looking forward to tonight."

He began skating with the team in late December and was eventually cleared for contact in recent weeks. On Friday, he skated on a like with Patrik Berglund and Chris Stewart.

"I feel really good," McDonald told reporters after Friday's practice at the Ice Zone at St. Louis Mills. "I've been clear on the ice for awhile now and I'm really close. I'm looking forward to getting back in."

The Blues have been hit hard by head injuries of late. David Perron returned to the lineup in December after missing more than a year with a concussion. Currently, Alex Steen and Matt D'Agostini are recovering from hits to the head.

In 234 games with the Blues, McDonald has 73 goals and 116 assists (189 points).
