ST. LOUIS – Brendan Shanahan, the NHL Senior Vice President of Player Safety and the National Hockey League announced this Wednesday that St. Louis Blues forward Chris Stewart has been suspended for the three games.

“We respect the decision by Brendan and the National Hockey League as they continue to enforce the safety of all players during our games,” said Blues Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Armstrong.

The play happened in the first period of Tuesday’s 2-1 victory over Detroit when Stewart hit Niklas Kronwall near the boards.

Kronwall left the game but returned in the second period.
