Perron Set to Rejoin Blues
It was quite a sight to behold Monday.

There was David Perron, back at the St. Louis Mills amongst his Blues teammates.

The post-concussion syndrome he’s been suffering from since being injured on Nov. 4 vs. San Jose has improved tremendously, and it was easy to see how excited he was to be back.

“It’s good to be back in St. Louis and seeing all the guys before practice, and meeting the new guys also,” Perron said Monday. “I’m just excited to (have been) driving back to St. Louis over the weekend with my two dogs. Thanks to the organization, to (Doug Armstrong) and (John Davidson) and everyone that has been so patient with me. They haven’t given me any pressure to come back so it’s been good.”

Perron has been skating lightly for the last four weeks and has felt well enough to return to St. Louis to begin training. He will still need to pass an NHL baseline test this week before working with Blues trainers. After that, he'll workout off the ice until he feels ready to resume practicing with his teammates.

No timetable has been set for any of that. Perron will get back at his own pace, but returning to St. Louis is a big positive first step.

“It’s an exciting day for myself but not probably nearly as exciting as it is to David Perron to be back here, where he should be, at the rink with his teammates,” said Armstrong. “He's been working very hard to get back to the starting point, and that's where we basically are today...the starting point. As we progress, David is going to be back with us, but I want to stress he’s back to square one.

“It’s very exciting that we’re here.”

Perron has been missing from the Blues lineup since Nov. 4, and rarely has he been around the team since then. Dating back to the injury, he’s missed 72 consecutive games. In 10 games prior to the injury, he had five goals and two assists (7 points).

But for Perron, there's no lack of determination to get back.

“If you know my path to the NHL, it's different than most guys. I’ve had my back to the wall many times before this point, so this is just another time,” Perron said. “Once I feel good enough to be in a game, I’ll be in a game for sure.”
