Tarasenko Joins Russia at World Juniors
Prospect Sebastian Wannstrom was also named to Team Sweden

Tarasenko, 19, a native of Yaroslavl, Russia, has played 35 games this season with Novosibirsk Siber in Russia’s Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) tallying 16 points including eight goals and eight assists.
In his previous two seasons with Novosibirsk, the 5’11, 202-pound forward accumulated 34 points including 20 goals and 14 assists in 80 appearances.
On the international level, Tarasenko also represented Russia at the 2010 World Junior Championships, tying for the team lead in goals (four) and finished third overall in points (five).
Wannstrom, 19, a native of Gavle, Sweden, has made 26 appearances this season with Brynas IF Gavle of the Swedish Elite League (SEL) recording two assists and four penalty minutes. In 2009-10, the 6’1, 180-pound forward split time between Brynas IF and Brynas Junior of Sweden’s Junior Elite League.
In 18 games with Brynas IF, Wannstrom posted two penalty minutes while in 35 games with Brynas Junior he led the league with 30 goals and 57 points (30 goals, 27 assists).
Both Russia and Sweden will open their tournament schedules on December 26.
Russia will play Canada at HSBC Arena in Buffalo while Sweden is set to face Norway at Dwyer Arena in Niagara Falls.
Blues prospect Jaden Schwartz, who was drafted in 2010, was named to Team Canada earlier in the week.
