ST. LOUIS – St. Louis Blues President John Davidson announced Friday the club has named former National Hockey League goaltender Corey Hirsch as their new Goaltending Coach.

He is currently working with the Toronto Maple Leafs and will officially join the Blues on July 1.

He will work with the club's goaltenders  in St. Louis and Peoria. He'll also work with the team's goaltending prospects.

“Corey has tremendous knowledge and experience of the goaltending position,” said Davidson. “He has a lot to bring to the organization and all of our goaltenders will benefit having Corey on board.”

Hirsch, 37, played for four NHL Teams (New York Rangers, Vancouver, Washington and Dallas) and was named to the NHL “All-Rookie Team” in 1996 with Vancouver. After retiring, he was named as the Goaltending Consultant for Hockey Canada and was part of their National Junior Team when they won the Gold Medal in 2007 and 2008.

He was hired by the Toronto Maple Leafs prior to the 2008-09 season.
