Kevin Allen of USA Today reported Saturday that Mason has been contacted by Team Canada and was told he would be on Canada's stand-by list.
"It's an amazing honor, but I'm just on standby until the games start," Mason said. "It's good (to be thought of), I'm thankful for that."
Canada's goaltenders are Martin Brodeur, Roberto Luongo and Marc-Andre Fleury.
In 44 games this season, Mason has posted a 2.53 goals against average and a .912 save percentage.
In international play last year, Mason was 4-0 with a 1.00 goals-against average and a .964 save percentage at the IIHF World Championships. He had one shutout and split the goaltending duties with Dwayne Roloson.
