Mother-To-Be Wins Bailout Giveaway
Heather Cole expecting baby soon after getting mortgage assistance

While lying in a hospital bed nearly a week after winning mortgage assistance from the Blues, Heather Cole is still beaming with excitement.
Cole is expecting a baby this week and thinks she could be a new mom as early as Saturday morning.
While she waits for the baby boy to arrive, she can’t help but thinking how much her life will change in just a few short hours. But one thing is for sure: at least she won’t have to worry about paying the rent.
“(The Bailout promotion) was very cool. I don’t think I could have asked for better timing,” Cole said in a phone interview from the hospital. “It was nice. I’m not usually quite that lucky.”
During the Jan. 17 game vs. Chicago, Cole’s seat in section 309 was randomly selected as the Fannie & Freddie Mortgage winner, a prize given to one lucky fan at every remaining Saturday home game this season. Cole, who shares a 3-story condominium in St. Charles with her roommates, will receive four months of mortgage assistance from the Blues.
The giveaway is part of the Fan Bailout Plan, which also offers 500 upper bowl and 500 lower bowl seats at discounted prices for every Blues home game. The plan is designed to help fans in a struggling economy.
“We know that it’s tough out there,” said David Bullock, vice president and chief marketing officer for the St. Louis Blues. “We want to make sure Blues games are affordable for everyone. With the Fan Bailout Plan, we’re give fans a little help where it counts…their pocketbooks.”
Cole, who works at a Kohls department store in St. Louis, said the struggling economy was visible last month during the holidays, when less people were spending money on gifts.
“You should have seen Christmas this year,” she said. “You can tell the economy needs help. It’s been a little bit rough on everybody.”
With a baby on the way any moment, Cole is on paid maternity leave, but she’ll be receiving a much smaller check that she would if she would be able to work.
“(The Bailout) couldn’t have come at a better time. I was stressing about (being paid less for maternity leave). With the rent payment assistance, I am so much less stressed.”
And for a mother-to-be, less stress is a good thing.
