Tkachuk Set to Attend 2009 All-Star Game
ST. LOUIS – The National Hockey League announced today that forward Keith Tkachuk has been named to the Western Conference All-Star Team. This marks the fifth time (1997, 1998, 1999, 2004 and 2009) in Tkachuk’s career that he will play in the All-Star game and the second time representing the Blues.

Tkachuk, 36, registered his 1,000th point on Sunday, Nov. 30, 2008 at Atlanta, becoming the 72nd National Hockey League player to reach this milestone and just the seventh US-born player at the time. He also became the fourth NHL player to record 1,000 points and over 2,000 penalty minutes in a career. In addition, he is the fourth Blue in history to record his 1,000th NHL point while donning the Blue Note behind Bernie Federko, Al MacInnis and Pierre Turgeon.

Tkachuk has played in 1,094 NHL games, amassing 1,011 points (514 goals, 497 assists) along with 2,139 penalty minutes. He has twice been named to the NHL Second All-Star Team (1995 and 1998).

The Melrose, Massachusetts native has represented the United States in six different international competitions, including the 1992, 1998, 2002 and 2006 Winter Olympic Games, winning a silver medal in 2002. He also played in the 1996 and 2004 World Cup of Hockey, helping the United States win the championship in 1996.

Tkachuk was originally selected by the Winnipeg Jets in the first round, 19th overall, in the 1990 NHL Entry Draft.

The 57th NHL All-Star Game will take place in Montreal on Jan. 25.
