Blues Sign Goaltender Jake Allen
ST. LOUIS – St. Louis Blues President John Davidson announced today the club has signed goaltender Jake Allen.

Allen, 18, a native of Fredericton, New Brunswick, has played in nine games this season with the Montreal Juniors of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, posting a 6-3-0 record, one shutout, a .925 save percentage and a 2.67 goals against average.

He was most recently named to the ADT Canada-Russian Challenge which will be played next month in Sydney, N.S. and Saint John, N.B.

Allen led Team Canada to a gold medal at the 2008 Under-18 IIHF World Championship leading all goaltenders with a .948 save percentage, a 1.43 goals-against average and two shutouts in seven games played. The 6-2, 177-pound netminder was named the best goaltender of the tournament, while being named to the tournament All-Star team.

Last season with St. John’s, he finished second among all QMJHL rookie goaltenders with a .901 save-percentage.

Allen was drafted by the Blues in the second round, 34th overall in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.
