Perhaps that’s why Williamson’s caddy, Bob Zimmerman, is sporting a St. Louis Blues hat at the BMW Championship this week in Town and Country.
Williamson, who was born in St. Louis and is a member of Bellerive Country Club, feels right at home in the tournament. The BMW Championship started Friday at Bellerive and features the PGA’s Top 70 golfers. Williamson started the tournament ranked No. 60, largely on the strength of a second place finish at the John Deere Classic in Silvas, Illinois earlier this year.
Other participants at the BMW Championship include Vijay Singh, Sergio Garcia, Phil Mickelson and Mike Weir.
Members of the Williamson family have been Blues season ticket holders since 1970 and support the team year after year.
“They’ve definitely been an advocate of the Blues,” said Nick Wierciak, the Williamsons’ Blues Account Representative. “In addition to purchasing additional tickets for themselves, they’ve also referred clients to us.
“Jay is real excited about the ownership group and the direction we’re headed,” Wierciak added. “He loves to bring his kids to the game and says it’s just a great family environment.”
