Scottrade, a leading branch-supported online investment firm, has donated $25,000 to benefit the St. Louis Blues 14 Fund as part of the firm’s second annual “7 for 14” donation program. Rodger Riney, Scottrade president and CEO, presented a $25,000 check to the St. Louis Blues 14 Fund on behalf of the company’s customers and associates.

As part of the firm’s Investing it St. Louis community involvement initiative, Scottrade announced in January it would donate $7 for every account opened online by a St. Louis metropolitan area resident or in person at one of Scottrade’s six St. Louis branch offices from Jan.15 through April 15. This year’s program was extended to three months, allowing for more accounts to be opened and, in turn, a larger donation to the charity. In 2007, Scottrade donated $10,000.

On hand for the check presentation at Scottrade’s Des Peres headquarters were Riney, Scottrade Chief Marketing Officer Chris Moloney, St. Louis Blues CEO Peter McLoughlin, and Executive Director of Broadcasting and Blues Alumni and Blues 14 Fund board member Bruce Affleck.

“The St. Louis Blues 14 Fund makes a significant impact on improving the health and wellness of our community,” said Riney. “Young people in the St. Louis area are instrumental to our region’s future and we are proud to make this contribution for the well-being of our youth and the impact they will have on the future of the metropolitan area.”

The St. Louis Blues 14 Fund is a charitable trust organization dedicated to positively impacting programs and services throughout the St. Louis area to improve the lives of youth. The organization was founded in 1998 by the St. Louis Blues. In 2007, the St. Louis Blues 14 Fund awarded grants to the Delta Gamma Center for Children with Visual Impairments, Diversity Awareness Partnership, Friends of Kids with Cancer, Gateway Locomotives, Girls on the Run, H.I.S. K.I.D.S., Life Skills, and the Missouri Hockey Association.

Scottrade is known for its $7 online stock trades and 353 branch offices, six of which are in the metropolitan area in South St. Louis County, Des Peres, Clayton, Chesterfield, O’Fallon, Mo., and Fairview Heights, Ill.
