Blues Acquire Andy McDonald from Anaheim
ST. LOUIS – St. Louis Blues President John Davidson announced today the team has acquired forward Andy McDonald from the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for Doug Weight, Michal Birner and a 7th round draft choice in 2008.

“We’re excited to add a top caliber forward to our hockey team,” said Davidson. “Doug is a true professional and we would like to thank him and his wife Allison for the time and dedication they have provided to the St. Louis Blues.”

McDonald, 30, is in his seventh season with Anaheim. He has recorded 16 points (four goals, 12 assists) in 33 games with the Ducks this season. The 5-10, 183-pound center won a Stanley Cup with Anaheim last season, leading all Ducks players in goal scoring with 10. McDonald compiled 14 postseason points (10 goals, four assists) in 21 games. He finished second on the team in points (78) and was third in goals (27). He currently ranks fourth on the Ducks all-time points list with 259 (92 goals, 167 assists). McDonald also ranks fourth on Anaheim’s all-time goal list with 92, assists list with 167 and power play goal list, 28.

The Strathroy, Ontario native signed as an undrafted free agent on April 3, 2000.
