Suburban Journal Features Blues Employee Evelyn Mosley
Evelyn Mosley, 80, stands with the Bernie Federko statue at Scottrade Center.
Evelyn Mosley wakes up in the morning and waits for the commuter bus to take her to the Hanley Metro Link station in North St. Louis. Upon arriving, she stands outside again, waiting for the train to pull up to the station and take her the rest of the way to work.

Work, for Evelyn, is in the Human Resources Department at Scottrade Center in downtown St. Louis. In September of this year, she will have worked there for 13 years filing papers, catching the typos of co-workers and overseeing nearly 1,400 employee records.

At 80 years old, it’s something she doesn’t take for granted.

“I guess what I want to say is working makes me feel good about myself,” Evelyn wrote in an e-mail to the managing editor of the Suburban Journal. “It helps me to keep up with the times and what’s going on in other places outside of my little world.”

Her letter came in response to a request from the Suburban Journal asking residents to write if they like their job. As a result of her submission, Evelyn was selected to be featured in the Sept. 2 edition of the Journal.

“My job has some stress and a lot of responsibility that goes with it,” she said. “Sometimes I question why I am doing this, but I really know why and I love it. I love working but mostly I love being able to get up and to go to work.”

Evelyn works three days a week and never misses a Blues game, rather in person or on television. Her favorite Blues player was Brett Hull.

The Blues would like to congratulate Evelyn on being selected by the Suburban Journal and for her 13th anniversary with the club.
