Basil McRae Named Part Time Scout

ST. LOUIS – St. Louis Blues President John Davidson announced today the club has hired Basil McRae as a part-time amateur scout. His primary responsibility will be to scout players in the Ontario Hockey League.
“We are proud to have Basil back with the organization and finding young talent for us,” said Davidson. “He is a terrific individual with tremendous hockey knowledge.”
McRae spent 16 seasons in the National Hockey League with the Quebec Nordiques, Toronto Maple Leafs, Detroit Red Wings, Minnesota North Stars, Tampa Bay Lightning, St. Louis and Chicago Blackhawks. He helped the North Stars win the Campbell Conference Trophy in 1990-91 when the team reached the Stanley Cup Finals. The Beaverton, Ontario native played in a total of 576 NHL games, amassing 136 points (53 goals, 83 assists) along with 2,457 penalty minutes.
In McRae’s four seasons with the Blues, he recorded 14 points (three goals, 11 assists) and 313 penalty minutes in 112 games. He played one season in Chicago following his stint with the Blues and retired after the 1996-97 season.
McRae was originally drafted by Quebec in the 5th round, 87th overall in the 1980 NHL Entry Draft.
