Blues defenseman Jeff Woywitka took a few minutes to sit down with St. Louis Blues Online to discuss his most memorable moments from the past season, his Stanley Cup Playoff predictions and his offseason vacation plans.

Highlight of last season:

“I think just getting an opportunity here and scoring my first NHL goal. That’s exciting for me. Just getting another chance to play in the NHL again was good. And to watch this team rebuild and see the steps it’s been taking, it’s been awesome. It’s been a fun year. I learned a lot and I feel like I’ve come a long way.”

Most looking forward to next season:

“All the steps we’ve been taking here, you know, the rebuilding and winning the fans back, it’s been great. Just seeing where this team is headed is phenomenal, and we’re all excited to come back here and have an exciting training camp and be ready.”

Stanley Cup playoff predictions:

“I like Vancouver, I’ve always grown up liking them. I don’t know if they’re the team to pick, but I’m always excited about them. Anything can happen in the playoffs, I guess. I’m excited to watch them.”

Offseason vacation plans:

“I just want to go home, relax and go to the lake, golfing or maybe a little trip depending on my schedule. I like to camp in my spare time. I (also) usually go back and help quite a bit (on the family farm). It keeps us busy, and being in the city the whole year, it’s kind of nice to go back and go on the farm and see the country and all that. It’s something I grew up doing and something I enjoy.”

Offseason training plans:

“We’re going to take a couple weeks off here, but then I’m using (Blues trainer) Nelson (Ayotte’s) program. It’s going to be good, and I’m excited to work hard and get ready.”

Will we find you in any major league ballparks this summer?

“I go back and live in the city there in Edmonton, so there’s not much ball around that area where I’m from, but you never know, I guess.”

If he could say one thing to Blues fans:

“I’d like to thank them for the support they’ve given us and for being behind us. They’ve been good to us, and we want to show them the best brand of hockey we can. We want to work hard every game and bring an exciting brand next year to the table.”
