Hockey Canada Selects Mayers, Jackman
ST. LOUIS – Hockey Canada announced today that Blues defenseman Barret Jackman and forward Jamal Mayers were named to the 2007 Canadian Men’s National Team for the IIHF Men’s World Championships. The two players will join Head Coach Andy Murray and defenseman Eric Brewer in the tournament which will be held from April 27-May 13 in Moscow, Russia.

Jackman, 26, played in 70 games with the Blues this past season, recording a career-high 27 points (three goals, 24 assists). He also posted a team-leading plus-20 rating and ranked second on the Blues with 82 penalty minutes.

Jackman has played in a total of 231 career NHL games all with St. Louis, registering 59 points (11 goals, 48 assists) along with 469 penalty minutes. He became the first Blue in franchise history to capture the Calder Memorial Trophy as the league’s most outstanding rookie in 2002-03. The Fruitvale, British Columbia native was originally drafted by the Blues as their first round selection, 17th overall in the 1999 Entry Draft.

Mayers, 32, tied a career high by playing in 80 games with the Blues this past season, recording 22 points (eight goals, 14 assists) and 89 penalty minutes, a team high.

Mayers has spent the previous 10 seasons with the Blues, the longest running tenure on the team. He has played in a total of 515 career games, registering 131 points (59 goals, 72 assists) along with 665 penalty minutes. The Toronto, Ontario native was originally drafted by the Blues as their fourth round selection, 89th overall in the 1993 Entry Draft.
