Butler Signs One-Year, Two-Way Deal

ST. LOUIS – St. Louis Blues President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Doug Armstrong announced today the club has signed defenseman and St. Louis native Chris Butler to a one-year, two-way contract.

Butler, 27, appeared in all 82 games with Calgary last season, posting 16 points (two goals, 14 assists) and 39 penalty minutes.

Overall, the 6-foot-1, 194-pound defenseman has appeared in six NHL seasons, including stints with Calgary and Buffalo. He has totaled 75 points (10 goals, 65 assists) and 158 penalty minutes in 349 career regular season games, as well as one assist and 10 penalty minutes in seven playoff appearances.

Internationally, Butler has represented the United States three times, including the 2013 World Championships, where he earned a bronze medal.

The Chaminade College Prep and University of Denver alum was originally drafted by Buffalo in the fourth round, 96th overall, of the 2005 NHL Draft.
