The Blues have placed goaltender Jaroslav Halak on injured reserve after he suffered what Head Coach Ken Hitchcock called a “groin strain” in Friday’s 5-3 loss to Detroit.
Halak left Friday’s game in Detroit during the first period.
“We expect him to have no problem being ready for the weekend,” Hitchcock told reporters at Sunday’s practice at the Ice Zone at St. Louis Outlet Mall. “This is more just a precaution. We’d rather get it 100 percent and not have this thing lingering or doing anything like that.”
Hitchcock said the Blues expect to have Halak back at practice on Friday.
For now, the Blues have recalled goaltender Jake Allen from Peoria.
Allen has appeared in 31 games for the Rivermen this season, posting a 12-16-2 record with a 2.94 goals-against average, a .903 save percentage and two shutouts.
