DALLAS - If the Blues are to snap their first four-game losing streak of the season, they’ll have to do it extremely shorthanded.
Blues Head Coach Ken Hitchcock added to the team’s growing list of injuries when he met with with the media late this morning. New additions are Brenden Morrow (undisclosed), Vladimir Sobotka (lower-body) and Derek Roy (upper-body).
Here is a list of forwards that won’t be in the lineup tonight due to injuries:
“We’ve been able to, pretty much the whole year, stay healthy,” Hitchcock said. “We would have preferred better timing and it is what it is. Everybody goes through this, but we just got it at the end of the year. You’ve got to stay focused on the guys you have.
“The playoffs start Thursday and I’d imagine we’re hopeful all or most of these guys are back for Thursday.”
Hitchcock said the same six defenseman are likely to play tonight, but hinted that one may come out of the lineup depending on how he feels after warm-ups. Hitchcock didn’t disclose which one.
Ryan Miller will start in goal.
The injury-riddled Blues will be facing a Stars team that could clinch a playoff spot with a win. Dallas is in the driver’s seat for the final Wild Card spot in the West, and needs just a win against the Blues or a win Sunday against Phoenix to punch their ticket.
Due to an overlap with the Cardinals’ game, tonight’s Blues / Stars game will be available on FOX Sports Midwest Plus and Y98 FM in St. Louis. The puck drops at 7:30 p.m.
FOX Sports Midwest Plus is available on AT&T U-verse 691 (HD 1691), DirecTV 671-1 (HD 671-1) and Dish 460. For a list of all other providers, go here: http://blues.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=713964
The Blues have won three of their last four games at American Airlines Center. A win tonight would give the Blues their third consecutive season-series win over Dallas.
If Carlo Colaiacovo plays tonight, it will be his 400th NHL game.
Alex Pietrangelo has one goal and eight assists in his last nine games against Dallas.
Alexander Steen has nine points in his last seven games.
