The Rivermen Report
Report for the Week Ending March 4
The Rivermen beat the top team in the Western Conference on Friday night but finished the week with just a single win in three games. Peoria is now 31-26-2-1 with 65 points and rank third in the Midwest Division. They are currently in a three-way tie for seventh in the Western Conference.

Feb. 29 – L 3-2 @ Milwaukee
Brett Sterling scored his team-leading 22nd goal of the season for Peoria with only 1:02 left in regulation but it was not enough as the Rivermen fell 3-2 to Milwaukee on Wednesday night. With Derek Nesbitt on the board, the Rivermen and Admirals began the third period in a 1-1 tie before Kyle Wilson scored twice to propel Milwaukee to victory. Jake Allen made his third straight start, for the first time this year, and finished with 32 saves in the loss.

March 2 – W 4-2 vs. Oklahoma City | HIGHLIGHTS
The Rivermen struck first and never looked back as they took down the first-place Oklahoma City Barons on Friday night at Carver Arena. Four Rivermen players had multi-point games, highlighted by Danny Syvret’s three points (one goal, two assists). Tyler Shattock, Jonathan Cheechoo and Phil McRae also scored as the Rivermen snapped a season-long power-play drought with a 2-for-5 perfomance. The Rivermen outshot the Barons 35-29 as Jake Allen posted his seventh win of the season.

March 3 – L 2-1 vs. Rockford | HIGHLIGHTS

Leading 1-0 at the start of the third, the Rivermen were unable to make Adam Cracknell’s first period goal standup as the Rockford IceHogs came back to beat Peoria 2-1. Newly acquired Patrick O’Sullivan had the primary assist on Cracknell’s goal at 13:49 of the first. The IceHogs tied it early in the third before Ben Youds snapped home the game-winner with only 2:15 left in regulation. The game was attended by a season-high 7,649 fans, highlighted by a performance from the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders.

Rivermen Report

  • The St. Louis Blues made a transaction on Friday to acquire the AHL rights of Patrick O’Sullivan from the Phoenix Coyotes in exchange for Brett Sterling. O’Sullivan has 334 games on NHL experience and had 30 points (10g, 20a) in 26 games with the Portland Pirates before joining the Rivermen.
  • Second-year center Phil McRae cracked the 20-goal plateau for the first time in his professional career after a goal against Oklahoma City on Friday night. It was also his 100th professional game.
  • Peoria’s loss on Saturday was the third time this year they have lost when leading at the start of the third period (23-3-0-0).
  • Captain Adam Cracknell has set a new AHL career-high with 24 assists and 40 points. He is one goal shy of matching his career-high in goals (17) that he set during his first year with the Rivermen (2009-10).
