The Rivermen won two of four meetings last week, capturing four of eight possible points. Peoria is now 30-24-2-1 with 63 points and rank third in the Midwest Division and tied for sixth in the Western Conference.
Feb. 21 – SOW 4-3 vs. Abbotsford | HIGHLIGHTS
Adam Cracknell scored with 48 seconds remaining in regulation to force overtime in a 4-3 shootout victory over the Abbotsford Heat on Tuesday night at Carver Arena. Peoria overcame a 2-0 deficit in the second period with markers from Phil McRae and Brennan Evans. Ben Bishop recorded his league-leading 24th win after stopping all nine Abbotsford shots in overtime and four of five shootout attempts. Derek Nesbitt and Brett Sterling tallied goals in the shootout.
Feb. 24 – L 2-1 vs. San Antonio | HIGHLIGHTS
The San Antonio Rampage defeated the Rivermen 2-1 on Friday night at Carver Arena. Greg Rallo’s tally at 15:28 in the first period stood as the game’s lone score for over 42 minutes before Scott Timmins improved the lead to 2-0. Derek Nesbitt tallied the lone Rivermen marker just 18 seconds later to finish the scoring. Ben Bishop stopped 29 of 31 shots on goal in what proved to be his final start for Peoria before being traded to the Ottawa Senators. Peoria went 0-for-3 on the power play and held San Antonio scoreless on four opportunities.

San Antonio downed the Rivermen 2-1 for the second time in as many days on Saturday night at Carver Arena. Chris Bruton scored his first career AHL goal at 10:27 in the second period before San Antonio countered with two markers in the third. Jake Allen stopped 25 of 27 shots on goal in the loss while Jacob Markstrom saved 40 of 41.

Adam Cracknell, Jonathan Cheechoo, and Phil McRae each scored in regulation, countering a three-goal second period from the Heat. Derek Nesbitt improved to 7-for-7 in the shootout this season while Anthony Nigro and McRae each scored on their attempts to give Peoria the victory. Jake Allen stopped 25 of 28 shots on goal in addition to three of four shootout attempts.

- Last weekend’s games marked the 11th of a league-leading 13 three-games-in-three-days series for the Rivermen this season. Peoria is 6-5-0 in the first game, 3-7-1 in the second, and 9-2-0 in the third game. The Rivermen will not play in another one of these series until March 30.
- With Sunday’s win, the Rivermen improved to 5-1-0 in the shootout this season. Peoria is tied for the league lead after converting 12 of 29 (.414%) shootout attempts this season.
- Defenseman Cade Fairchild’s plus-30 rating is still the best in the AHL.
- Danny Syvret’s 33 points (4g, 29a) rank fourth among AHL defenseman.
